Lecture: Advances in the application of fracture mechanics to seismic steel connections

Amit M. Kanvinde is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Associate Dean for Academic Personnel and Planning at the University of California, Davis. His research has advanced the understanding of fracture, fatigue, and instability in structural systems subjected to extreme loading, particularly earthquakes. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Norman Medal, the Walter P. Huber Research Prize, and the T.R. Higgins Award, and serves on standards committees shaping national design provisions in the United States. Professor Kanvinde has authored over 90 journal publications and has led major projects supported by government and industry sponsors.
